We will work to strengthen all of our Indiana schools and expand public school options for ALL youth turning to educators as experts. The voucher system is creating financial issues for public schools. Indiana's graduation requirements and curriculum are continually changing causing unnecessary stress on the school communities. Indiana's educators are underpaid and spending large amounts of their paycheck on school supplies.
We need a clean energy future. New exploration and production needs to be approached safely and responsibly. Indiana currently rates near the bottom of 'green' States.
We must protect Indiana's natural resources, and ensure the quality of our air, water, and land for current and future generations.
Every Hoosier, no matter their race, sex, ethnicity, language, religion, sexual orientation, age, or disability, is equal. We have many discriminatory issues in our State that need to be addressed.
We must continue to work to make our State one that is safe for all individuals. I am in favor of working on hate crime prevention as Indiana ranks 11th in the nation for number of hate groups, yet we have no hate crimes laws.
We need to invest in technology and transportation initiatives strengthening our future and repairing current problems while creating jobs.
The "system" is in need of a major overhaul. We have thousands of children that are in foster care and a small number of social workers and counselors for them. The system is not set up for truly supporting the educational, emotional and medical needs of these children. There needs to be a greater investment in our children.
I am running as a democrat and have many democratic values, but have many friends, family and supporters that are republicans. I do not believe that there has to be continual opposition and want Hoosiers to work together to make our great State even better. I will listen to the constituents and work for all Hoosiers as best as possible.
